It just keeps getting better.
Not only is D expecting, but she’s just over five months along. Crazy just keeps getting crazier. We went in for an ultrasound and found out that the due date is around August 1st, and the baby is a girl. It looks healthy, which is a blessing. Now we need to find her an obstetrician. She’s been faithfully taking her prenatal vitamins – even with a long-time aversion to swallowing pills.
The good news is that her boyfriend is being amazing, even though it’s now obvious that the baby isn’t his. At this point, I have to just be as supportive as possible and try to help her deal with the negativity that is sure to come around as she deals with this.
She’s thinking she’s going to keep the baby at this point, but I don’t think that she’s completely dismissed the idea of adoption yet. We’ll see how the rest of her pregnancy goes, and how she feels as she considers the reality of getting a job and setting up a home… it’s pretty scary, and I hope she’s really considering the serious future ahead of her.
It has been interesting to watch her gain weight. For years she has been at least 20 pounds underweight, so watching her face fill out has been interesting. She has softened, and looks more mature and… I don’t know, just prettier, if that makes sense. Of course, I’ve always thought she was pretty… it’s hard to describe.
One day at a time.
